Abstract

By introduction of an OFDM-based, data independent synchronization symbol, we implement a burst mode capable coherent transmission system. Experimental comparison of differently shaped 32-/64-QAM-constellations show a benefit up to 3 dB in OSNR-sensitivity for circular patterns.
