IP Traffic Offloading to Elastic Optical Layer Using Multi-flow Optical Transponder

Abstract

We propose introducing a multi-flow optical transponder combined with elastic optical networking to achieve efficient router-bypass at the optical layer. Numerical evaluation shows considerable savings in the required IP router port count and spectral usage.
