Recent Experiments on Lasing in Atomic Oxygen and Nitrogen in Air

Abstract

I will discuss experiments on dissociation and two–photon pumping of oxygen and nitrogen in air in the nanosecond and femtosecond pumping regimes. Interference between different emission mechanisms results in a pronounced forward-backward gain asymmetry.
