Interference between excitation pathways in resonant sum-frequency mixing in vapours

Abstract

We show both theoretically and experimentally that within resonant sumfrequency mixing (SFM) competing routes occur for the generation of the driving coherence and that these may interfere and be controlled in magnitude by the relative strengths of the two input lasers.
