Abstract
At present two probable mechanisms of doubly changed ion formation, step-wise (A + k1 ħω → A+ + e; A+ + k2 ħω → A2+ + e) and two-electron (A + k1 ħω → A2+ + 2e), are considered. The previous investigations with alkaline-earth atoms showed that in the visible spectral range step-wise mechanism is realized and in the infrared (IR) spectral range non-stepwise mechanism takes place.1 The special experiments were conducted to prove the two-electron mechanism of doubly charged ion formation mechanism in IR spectral range.
