THz-multiphoton ionization of Rydberg atoms

Abstract

We report on multiphoton-ionization studies of Rydberg atoms, performed with the free electron laser FELIX. We measured photoionization and final state distributions of rubidium in an initial Rydberg state (n = 14–50) subjected to a wide range of frequencies (4.3–15 THz).
