Abstract

The molecular system under investigation is l-naphthyl isocyanate (NIC). Until now, there is only little information about the photochemistry of this molecule. Because of its intense and well separated N-C-O stretching mode at 2270 cm-1, NIC is very interesting for probing with picosecond infrared pulses. Monitoring the dynamics of this mode after UV excitation provides the possibility to study the redistribution and relaxation of vibrational energy.
