Abstract

The study of the time response of solvent molecules to electronic rearrangement of a solute is of great importance to the understanding of how chemical reaction rates are influenced by solvent dynamics and energetics. Here we describe our new experimental and theoretical results concerning the solvation dynamics study by ultrafast four-photon spectroscopy with pulses longer than the electronic transition dephasing (so called " population " spectroscopy).
