Abstract

The coherent dynamics of collective charge oscillations provide several important details of carrier scattering processes. These coherent oscillations carry an intraband dipole moment, which induces a macroscopic electric field. The investigation of these field dynamics by time-resolved nonlinear optical spectroscopy allows therefore an investigation of the dephasing of coherent plasmon modes. The information obtained reveal details on the scattering mechanisms involved in the phase breaking of the plasmons.
