Abstract

Recently a new method of vibrational phase relaxation in liquids, based upon the transient stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) was proposed and verified1 using the controllable geometry of capillary liquid-filled fiber. In some cases this method has an obvious advantage on the coherent picosecond probe technique. The later is widely used to the determination of relaxation constants in transparent organic liquids. For instance, a new SRS method is applicative to the phase relaxation studies not only in transparent, but in the absorbing and aggressive liquids also. In this communication the results of an experimental lest of modern phase relaxation theories suitable to the aromatic molecules, namely, liquid benzene and their deuterated analogue is reported for the first time.
