Spectroscopy of Rubidium Atoms in a Mode-Locked Dipole Trap

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We have demonstrated that high-resolution laser spectroscopy can be performed on rubidium atoms confined in a dipole trap, formed by a mode-locked laser. Contrary to what is the case for a cw dipole trap the atomic lineshapes and positions are not significantly affected by the AC Stark effect in this type of trap.
