Abstract

One-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures have attracted much interest as tailoring their dimensions and/or compositions leads to new physical properties and optimized device performance. Using near-field spectroscopic techniques the resolution limit of classical microscopy can be overcome and single quantum wires can be selectively studied [1]. Moreover, by combining near-field spectroscopy with time-resolved detection and excitation schemes, direct access to the spatio-temporal carrier dynamics in single nanostructures becomes possible.
