Abstract

After the observation of Bose-Einstein condensation in weakly interacting systems of dilute atomic gases [1] it is of interest to extend the investigation of quantum degenerate gases to other atomic species. Potassium offers the opportunity of investigating the properties of different isotopes and eventually will allow the comparison of a Bose condensate with a degenerate Fermi gas.
