Abstract
The nature of the vacuum state and its fluctuations is one of the most fascinating aspects of modem physics. Despite their non-intuitive character, these vacuum fluctuations play an important role for our understanding of physics. In particular the parametric amplification of such fluctuations is crucial for phenomena ranging from nonlinear optical processes [1], to positronium annihilation [2], and Universe inflation [3].
