Stable Dissipative Soliton Molecules in Mode-Locked Laser

Abstract

Two-soliton bound states (BS) or soliton molecules in dissipative were predicted a decade ago [1-4]. These bound states are usually derived from the complex cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation (CQGLE), which is an averaged or distributed approximation of a fiber ring laser with an instantaneous saturable absorber. It has been shown that these molecules are unstable and decay [1, 2] if their constituents are in- or π out-of-phase. Stable molecules have been only observed in a small parameter range if both constituents exhibit a π/2 phase difference [3].
