Abstract

Metamaterials are artificial metal/dielectric composites which can exhibit exotic optical properties due to their subwavelength structure. Their fabrication is challenging due to this subwavelength structures, especially for the infrared and visible spectra; and especially challenging in high volumes. However, these limitations can be overcome using fiber drawing techniques. In this work, we present the fabrication of tin/soda-lime wire array metamaterial fibers and preliminary numerical results for their optical losses in the MIR.
