Abstract

Nonclassical optical states are both of fundamental interest and a necessary resource for quantum information processing. To date, such states have been limited to the regime of few photons. Here, we generate and directly measure nonclassical states containing up to 50 (fifty) photons at 1535 nm in a well-defined single mode.
