More Than 34 dB Backscattering Suppression in Microresonators

Abstract

We demonstrate a method for reducing backscattering of light in whispering-gallery-mode resonators, achieving 34 dB suppression of the intrinsic backscattering level. The method relies on positioning a sub-wavelength-size scatterer within the resonators evanescent field.
