Abstract
The growing need for wireless connectivity in urban areas requires research to focus on integrating smart communication technologies into buildings and urban structures to meet increasing bandwidth demands and environmental and aesthetic requirements. Smart surfaces should adapt to changing urban environments while blending in with the cityscape or in active indoor scenarios [1]. Optically transparent metasurfaces can provide intelligent, multifunctional, and reprogrammable control of electromagnetic waves and, at the same time, seamlessly blend in with the environment's surface.
