Abstract

We have developed a new senior-level undergraduate laboratory course at the US Air Force Academy. The students perform six experiments that include; optical modulators, waveguiding, laser kinetics, CO₂ lasers, harmonic generation and the measurement of ultrashort laser pulses. These experiments were chosen so that there is an integrated theme of lasers and optics, to teach experimental methods and reinforce fundamental physics concepts.
