Tunable, Coherent Sources for High-Resolution VUV and XUV Spectroscopy

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

About 20 years ago, great strides were made in high-resolution spectroscopy in the VUV with the building of large grating spectrographs which provided resolving powers of ~3 × 105. To-day, with the use of tunable laser sources, resolving powers of ~107 have been reached in limited wavelength ranges, with ~105 available over most of the VUV and XUV regions to as short as ~50 nm.
