Abstract

We demonstrate an optical frequency comb having spectral spacing two times of the modulation frequency using two cascaded push-pull Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZMs). The optimized operating conditions for generating flattened comb lines are obtained by means of numerical method. Optical combs with 4 and 5 lines are experimentally generated with good flatness using two commercial X-cut LiNbO3 MZMs, where the spectral spacing is doubled to 20 GHz when modulated at 10 GHz.
