Abstract

Surface temperature measurements alone could prove insufficient to predict long term reliability of FBG components used in double clad high power fiber lasers. However, the standard test setup for these devices is well suited for more sophisticated active thermography techniques. These techniques can provide information on the size and temperature of subsurface defects.
