Abstract

At wavelengths longer than about 5 microns thermal radiation arising from room temperature components of the spectrometer and indeed of the sample itself can become modulated and hence contribute to the interferogram. Two situations, which are particularly important for certain types of rapid scan instruments, will be discussed.
