Femtosecond Frequency Combs: new trends for Fourier transform spectroscopy

Abstract

A new approach to ultrasensitive high resolution spectroscopy is proposed. An ultrastable mode-locked femtosecond laser is combined to a high finesse optical resonator. The light beam is spectrally analyzed by detecting the beat signals from adjacent elements of the comb. In a single experiment the entire optical comb domain is recorded with the advantages of the cavity enhancement and high frequency modulation detection.
