Abstract
Reactive nitrogen species, collectively called NOy, play an important role in the chemistry of the stratosphere. NOy, shown in Equation 1, is responsible for significant ozone destruction in the mid-stratosphere and influences the partitioning of the hydrogen, chlorine, and bromine families in the lower stratosphere.
