Abstract

Zero field splittings (ZFS) provide important information about function determining high spin (HS, S > 1/2) transition metal ions (TMI) in e.g. proteins, synthetic catalytic complexes as well as single molecule magnets. We recently demonstrated that synchrotron based Frequency Domain Fourier Transform THz-EPR (FD-FT THz-EPR) provides a powerful to extract this information. FD-FT THz-EPR allows for mapping of the EPR transition energy/magnetic field landscape, in the range from 3 to 55 cm−1 and from −11 T to 11 T.
