Autofluorescence Imaging of the Retina

Abstract

Lipofuscin is a fluorescent pigment that accumulates throughout life in the pigmented epithelium cells of the retina. Imaging of this fluorescence provides a unique modality to assess health of these cells in retinal dystrophy’s and age related degeneration of the retina.
