Ultrafast X-ray Diffraction and Absorption: New Light on Phase Transition Dynamics.

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

I will discuss recent and current applications of femtosecond x-rays to studies of phase transitions in condensed matter. I will describe diffraction with Ka bursts from femtosecond-laser plasmas, as well as progress in ultrafast x-ray absorption spectroscopy of strongly correlated solids at the Advanced Light Source in Berkeley.
