Mode-locked ytterbium fiber laser tunable in the 980 – 1070 nm spectral range

Abstract

We report on picosecond mode-locked operation of an ytterbium-doped fiber laser tunable over 90 nm, delivering pulses of 1.6-2-ps duration. The fiber laser is pumped by a single fiber-coupled diode laser operating at 915 nm and delivers over 3 mW in mode-locked regime across the entire tuning band.
