Second harmonic generation with a high-order mode laser beam

Abstract

Second harmonic generation can be highly efficient with a laser operating with a single high order mode. A 90% increase in output power was obtained with a Q-Switch Nd:YAG laser when it was operating with TEM01 rather than TEM00 mode.
