Abstract

Optical waveguide for guided-mode-selective focusing grating coupler in WDM chip-to-chip optical interconnecting board was designed and fabricated. Coupling efficiency of the fabricated grating coupler for TE1 mode was about 10 times as high as that for TE0 mode. The focus spot size was close to the diffraction-limited value.
