Abstract

In the past five years, astronomical adaptive optics systems have begun operation on the world’s largest ground-based telescopes. This talk discusses the considerable scientific benefits of astronomical adaptive optics, and highlights some of the exciting new scientific results from adaptive optics systems on 8 – 10 meter telescopes.
