Abstract

An intense emission band from Ni2+ in MgGa2O4 spinel in the range of 1.1 - 1.6 µm was observed at room temperature. The emission band can be assigned to the transiti on of 3T2g3A2g of Ni2+ ions in octahedral cites. The li fetime of the emission was more than 1.6 msec from 5 K to 300 K.
