3D FDTD modeling of surface plasmons at single nanoholes in metal films

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The generation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPP) at a single nanohole in metal film is studied by parallel 3D finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. An interference pattern with period of SPP wavelength is obtained. The FDTD result including a near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) tip is in good agreement with experiments.
