Nonparaxial Fields with Maximum Joint Spatial-Directional Localization

Abstract

The lower bounds for the spatial and directional spreads of nonparaxial scalar and vector monochromatic fields are found through a variational approach. These lower bounds are generalizations of the standard uncertainty relation for paraxial fields.
