Optical Negative-Index Materials Based on Pairs of Metal Nanorods

Abstract

Pairs of gold nanorods exhibit “-0.3” effective refractive index near 1.3 um. This type of artificially designed materials can be used for obtaining negative-index materials and applying them for super-lenses in the visible and near-infrared.
