Periodic Metallic Structures used as Infrared Polarizing Elements

Abstract

Periodic array of metallic structures can be used to alter the polarization state on an incident wave. Using FDTD modeling, we investigate the use of these structures as polarization modifying elements in the infrared region specifically as quarter-wave plates and polarization rotators.
