Raman scattering noise in phase-insensitive and phase-sensitive parametric processes in fibers

Abstract

The non-instantaneous response of the Kerr nonlinearity couples noise to parametric processes in fibers through Raman scattering. We describe theoretical and experimental progress in understanding this noise and its effect on phase-insensitive and phase-sensitive applications.
