Orbital angular momentum switching of optical vortices

Abstract

We show that co-propagating non-radially-symmetric phase vortices experience a nonlinear transfer of orbital angular momentum between circularly-polarized components in Kerr media. We investigate how this exchange depends on power and vortex topological charge.
