Fourier modal method for the analysis of optical nano-devices

Abstract

The Fourier modal method, also known as the RCWA, has been used for grating analysis for many years. We describe its generalization for analysing non-periodic systems. Examples include photonic-crystal microcavities and SPP-metallic devices.
