Efficient rotating point spread functions for 3D imaging

Abstract

Approximate rotating beams for 3D imaging can be engineered with high diffraction efficiency using phase only on-axis diffractive optical elements. We compare approximate and exact rotating point spread functions in the Gauss-Laguerre modal plane.
