Semiconductor optical amplifiers with nanostructured gain material

Abstract

We describe state-of-the-art semiconductor optical amplifiers based on nanostructured gain media. We highlight the broad bandwidth and the complex cross saturation dynamics which enables multi-wavelength amplification and signal processing.
