Photonic Crystal Waveguide Based Refractive Index Sensor

Abstract

We present a compact photonic crystal waveguide (PCW) based refractive index (RI) sensor. A high sensitivity is achieved by operating PCWs in their slow light regime. For ease of detection, PCWs have been used in an unbalanced MZI configuration.
