Abstract

Diffraction gratings have competing performance requirements when used in high-peak-power chirped-pulse–amplification laser systems. Diffraction efficiency, wavefront quality, and laser-damage threshold are interdependent criteria for multilayer diffraction gratings. Critical fabrication-related artifacts will be discussed.
