Observation of forward stimulated Brillouin scattering in a standard highly-nonlinear fiber

Abstract

We observe forward stimulated Brillouin scattering (FSBS) in a standard highly-nonlinear optical fiber a numerous acoustic resonance frequencies that occur between ~30 MHz to beyond the detection limit of 1.5 GHz.
