Transverse Electromagnetic Modes in Aperture Waveguides Containing a Metamaterial with Extreme Anisotropy

Abstract

We show that all modes supported by simply connected apertures containing a metamaterial with extreme anisotropy are purely transverse electromagnetic, dispersion-free, and without cutoff frequency.
