Sub-wavelength terahertz spin-flip laser based on a magnetic point-contact array

Abstract

We suggest a terahertz laser in which stimulated emission of light occurs due to spin-flips of polarized electrons injected into a metallic point contact array. The optical gain can reach gopt ≈105 ÷ 106 cm−1
