Abstract

Vector fields, with spatially inhomogeneous distribution of states of polarization, have become a subject of rapidly growing interest. We first introduce a method for generating arbitrary vector fields, based on the Poincaré sphere and the wavefront reconstruction, and then discuss some novel properties including optical orbital angular momentum and configurable three-dimensional optical cage.
