Microcavity Polaritonics: interacting quantum liquids on a chip

Abstract

Coupling photons in an optical microcavity with semiconductor quantum wells can create new states termed “polaritons” with completely new properties. We show the capability of creating polariton condensates, manipulating quantum wavefunctions on macroscopic scales.
